Passionate Worship
Through Relationship

By Prophet Renee Cutter

What is passion anyway? Passion in its simplest form is love and devotion. Passionate worship comes from our relationship with God. The world speaks a lot about passion but it is not Godly passion. Passion according to the world standards is shallow and all about self-gratification. Godly passion is sacrificial and selfless.

Let’s look at a passage of scripture that exemplifies passion in its purest form. In Luke 22:42 Jesus was praying to the Father before He went to the cross,

“Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.”

In verse 42 He prayed so earnestly that His sweat became like great drops of blood!

It was out of Christ’s love for us that He endured the cross. It was out His sacrificial and selfless love He laid down His life for us. I call that passion!

Jesus was devoted to the Father. He pulled Himself away time and time again, away from the crowd and the demands of the people to be with the Father. Jesus considered the Father in everything He did. Passion comes from relationship. Jesus lived His life in constant communion with the Father.

Jesus constantly had demands on Him. Imagine all the people in the crowd that followed Jesus, they all needed something from Him! Even with all the needs and demands of people He still made time to have devotion with the Father.

We may not have the multitudes following us but we do have the demands of our places of work and family and life’s “stuff”. This at times can seem like a multitude!

I believe that most believers desire to be more passionate about their relationship with God but often feel like that it takes hours a day to get there. Some may have hours a day to pull away and seek God and that is great, but some may not. There are practical things we can do to deepen our relationship with the Lord. We can be spiritual and practical at the same time!
